"Barb and I have known each other for about 12 years, and have worked at two different schools together. I can state without hesitation that she is one of the most thoughtful, intelligent, and effective administrators and educators with whom I have worked. She has been an amazing Head of School for The Marin School, leading our community through many changes, challenging times, and wonderful moments.

 

One important facet of Barb’s special approach is that she always makes an extra effort to “see” all the members of our school community—new students, prospective parents, job applicants, beloved alums, or veteran faculty members. Barb makes the effort to welcome everyone with an open mind and heart. There is a sign on her desk that reminds her every day to “assume good intentions”; that directive epitomizes what she is all about. I see how she takes that statement to heart each day, which in practice is quite a difficult ideal to live up to. For Barb, who has one of the biggest hearts you’ll ever find, this reminder just falls into place naturally."
